All in all a great day. The kids and I spent the morning at the park. Ren loves to climb and Kate just wants to keep up. If we could just keep her from putting rocks in her mouth...Drew returned home from a week trip and we were all really glad to have hime back. After naps, we loaded up the kids and headed to the bike store to pick out Ren's birthday present. It was the first bike we put Ren on that he just peddled off happily. He's not to sure about the helmet, but everyone here has one, so he'll get used to it quickly.
Drew and Ren took off for a quick ride and Kate and I set up for gifts and cake. We kept it a family affair, as we wanted kids to have some well-deserved Dad time. After gifts and chocolate cake, we were surprised by a neighbor, Diego, who brought a little something for Ren, too. Ren and Diego played outside while we cooked up some brats and potatoes. We're lucky to have such great neighbors.
Drew and I can't believe we really have a 3 year old, but we know we'll blink and it will be Kate zooming down the street on her first bike. Feeling lucky.
