Announce to the soon-to-be 7 year old to get herself ready to go on a birthday adventure. Blindfold child and load her into the car.
7 year old has very good sense of direction. I think she knew where we were headed.
Head to favorite bike shop for middle child to get her first gear bike.
She picks a frame that fits her and decides on white.
Nap the toddler and sunscreen up. Time to break in the bike.
Head to "die Muehle".
We had discovered a mill one town away while on an earlier bike ride. We had heard that there was an anniversary celebration and an open house, so we decided to check it out.
Anniversary. 525 years. Really.
Didn't take many pictures, but they opened up the mill for everyone and turned it into a big party. Pallets of different types of wheat, spelt, oats, barley, sesame, poppyseed, pumpkin seeds, and countless other nuts and grains.
They also have a little store where they sell all their goods. Best part for the kids was different types of homemade muesli and yogurt and bread samples. Of course no German party is complete without sausage, salads, and beer.
As we rode our bikes home through the fields of wheat, corn, rapeseed, and grasses, I breathed in the beauty of this place. Today was a lovely day.
Sunshine.
Cool breezes.
Strawberries in season.
Freshly baked bread.
Tractors.
A healthy family.
In the rustling grass, I hear Hin pass, He speaks to me everywhere.
