On Easter, we drove to the North Sea coast to the town of Zaandvoort. The rain held off, but it was still pretty windy and cool. Kids LOVED the beach.
The next day was the most challenging weather. We took the train to Amsterdam and went to a science and technology museum, NEMO. It's a fantastic museum, but we were among the masses and the crowds were less than optimal. Still, the kids had a blast.
I have to admit that my first impression of Amsterdam was less than stellar. I saw construction everywhere and more trash that I ever imagined. Of course the city has the Red Light District and drug reputation, but with a map it's pretty easily avoided. First impressions, though, were not comforting.
Fortunately, it got better each day.
