As we sit enjoying the nearly 85 degrees outside we think summer has finally arrived. It's been so cool that it's hard to believe it's nearly the 'end' of summer! Heidi's not cussing too much as she's the primary beneficiary of the cooler weather. The kids have certainly enjoyed it and with the days growing shorter (sunset about 9 pm these days) time's quickly running out. Last month we spent an afternoon down in a town called Villingen and the kids enjoyed the playground and the 'Baechle' (little creeks)....and one "chip off the old block" picture.
When the weather has been warm enough, the kids have spent a fair amount of time with the 'Wasserbahn' (waterway) outside on our patio. Blowing water through the watering can also appears to be a rare skill our son has mastered...we're so proud.

During the course of the last couple of months Ren's been able to master riding his bike....sans training wheels which gives his parents no small cause for alarm. His general reaction tends to be one of "Mom, what's the big deal about crossing the street? It's only about 10 meters!".
