A festive holiday weekend. We've headed into the Christmas season here in Germany. Everyone has decorated and the Gluehwein is flowing. We spent Saturday afternoon at Stuttgart's main Christmas market downtown. Ren got to ride the kids' train and was mumbling about it even after he went to sleep. Christmas markets are tougher for Kate, as she's no longer content to just hang out in her stroller forever, but there are so many people that it's the safest place for her to be. She did enjoy the bratwurst and kinderpunsh, of course, as every growing girl should.
Sunday we headed southwest near Freudenstadt and found a place to cut our Christmas tree. The Germans are quite civilized about the whole thing. We found the pension, we walked about 100 meters from the main house and cut our tree. Poor Kate was apparently scared when Drew cut the tree...when the tree fell to the ground she burst into tears. Drew dragged the tree 15 meters to the road and they hauled it back to the car, wrapped it up, offered to strap it to the car and then poured the drinks. How lovely.
