Here's a very eclectic collection of photos from the past several months...we've got everything from the tower/slide at Bad Wildbad, Germany through to Ren's birthday party last weekend...enjoy!
This is a circular tower that's at the end of a "tree top" walk in the Black Forest near Bad Wildbad, Germany...it's about 30 minutes from our house in Holzgerlingen.
Here's Ren's journey to Houston from Frankfurt...in a moment of weakness I gave him my business class upgrade. As you might expect, there was plenty of movie watching and eating...and very little sleep. :)
Ren got to celebrate multiple birthdays...one at Campmeeting, one at the house in Germany, and another during a party with friends....who would have thought that 12 was such a wonderful age. The cake was courtesy of Aunt Sissy and we celebrated with Cousin William and Luke Gamertsfelder. Too bad Luke and Ren didn't win the scavenger hunt!
The burger was another gift from Clay and Rex....3 pounds of gooey goodness...
It never ceases to amaze me how going to Campmeeting slows my heart rate and the pace of my thoughts. It had been four years since my last one (the Fall before we moved to Germany this go-around) and it's been long overdue...
We may not be much to look at but we had a great time!
Annika flew back from Midland to Houston with us and they had a good time...this time I kept the business upgrade for myself. :)
I can't say it was the fanciest birthday cake we ever made her, but it was made with love. Happy 43rd my dear!
Power chick...enough said.
Ren and I were able to road trip up to Wiesbaden right before school started to get some work done...on the way back we stopped by the Berlin Airlift Memorial at the old entrance to Rhein Main Airbase (now the Frankfurt Airport "Cargo City Sued"). It's hard to get to but it was pretty neat sharing with Ren the story of the "Candy Bombers" and remembering the sacrifices that were made that others could persevere in the face of the Russians.
Obligatory first day of school pic!
The final birthday party...we think. We spent the afternoon climbing on a high ropes course with friends from the International School...we all and a great time and the weather held out. You wouldn't believe it was the 5th of September with all the jackets!
