We've had a great month and are enjoying the summer. The kids have been challenged, busy, helpful, fun-loving, and everything they could be....they're fantastic. Heidi's been running a tight ship with mornings that start off with chores after breakfast (ok, only 15 minutes worth), an outing, naps, and then some fun play and learning. Wow, summer school without too much of the "school" part!
Ada's been potty training (successfully) and the prospect of no diapers makes us all happy beyond belief.
We visited my host family (Wolfgang and Inge Riemann) the weekend before last and had a great time. They were holding down the fort at their daughter's house outside Saabruecken (about 5km from the French border) and we had a weekend filled with good company, food, and plenty of ice cream.
Last weekend Heidi met some friends at the "Barfusspark" (literally the "bare foot park") and walked the whole course bare-footed...through cold water, mud, over rocks and grass...they had a great time. Ada made it the whole way (but didn't care for the cold water)!
